Easy Watercolor Background Shaker Cards | Brutus Monroe

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a couple of really fun birthday shaker cards for the Brutus Monroe blog hop!

1.jpg

I started out by creating some colorful watercolor backgrounds using Aqua Pigment paints. I used a technique to make these backgrounds that is so super easy to do, I highly recommend checking out the video so that you can see how it is done!

2.jpg

Once the background were dry I used a large circle die to cut them into two circles. I then took the same die as well as a slightly smaller circle die to make two frames out of white cardstock. I also cut two circles out of some acetate. I glued the acetate circles to the frames to create my shaker windows.

3.JPG

I added some doubled up foam tape around the frame to create my shaker area. I then filled the shaker with Pastel Paradise sequins from Lucy’s Cards as well as clear Micro Pearls from Brutus Monroe. I closed the shakers up with the watercolor backgrounds.

4.JPG

I created two 5 x 5 card bases and glued some Simon Says Stamp Fog cardstock to the front. I then glued my shaker circles to the middle of both of the cards.

5.jpg

For the sentiments I used a stamp from the Super Sentimental stamp set from Brutus Monroe and embossed them with Alabaster embossing powder on some black cardstock. I popped the sentiments up onto the centers of both cards and went over them with Wink of Stella glitter.

Creating an Alcohol Ink Background | Simon's March Card Kit

Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing a card featuring the stamp set in Simon Says Stamp’s latest card kit!

4.JPG

First I created a background using alcohol inks. I used some Yupo paper and added inks in the colors Purple Twilight, Wild Plum, Sunset Orange, and Sunshine Yellow. I used some 91% Isopropyl Alcohol in order to get the inks really moving and a straw to blow the color around. Once the ink was mostly dry I placed a piece of gold Deco Foil on top and pressed it down to leave behind some gold on the sticky areas.

1.jpg

I cut down my alcohol ink panel and placed it in my Misti. I arranged some of the stamps from the Amazing stamp sent on the panel and then stamped them with Alcohol-Lift Ink. I then used a dry cloth to wipe the panel which really brings out that stamping.

3.JPG

For the sentiment I picked one of the stamps from the set and stamped it with Versamark ink onto a piece of vellum. I embossed it with Gilded embossing powder from Brutus Monroe. I then folded one end of the sentiment over the top of the alcohol ink panel and glued it to the back. I also added some tiny dots of liquid adhesive behind all the letters to glue the sentiment to the front of the panel.

2.jpg

I popped my panel up onto an A2 size card base with foam tape. I added a mix of sequins from the Heaven Sent sequin mix from Lucy’s Cards. I glued the sequins down with Gina K Designs Connect Glue and then my card was finished.

You're So Very Kind | Reverse Confetti

Hello crafty friends! I have another card to show you today using some of the products in Reverse Confetti’s most recent release!

1.jpg

First I stamped the adorable critter from the Heart Pals stamp set and colored it in using Copic markers. I cut him out using the coordinating die set.

3.JPG

I picked out a piece of patterned paper from the From Cupid paper pad and cut it down to 4.25 x 5.5. I adhered that panel to an A2 card base. I then cut a panel of white cardstock to be slightly smaller than the A2 base. I cut a square window out of the top half of the white panel and then popped it up on the card base with foam tape.

2.jpg

For the sentiment I picked out a stamp from the Patterned Hearts stamp set and embossed it with white embossing powder on black cardstock. I then popped up the sentiment strip onto the card with foam tape. I also popped up the little cat image in the window on the card.

4.JPG

To finish up the card I went over the sentiment with Wink of Stella glitter. I also added some highlights to my colored in image with a white gel pen. Finally I added a few sequins using liquid glue.

This month’s them is “Encouragement & Congratulations” and here is a look at what I came up with for the challenge! First I stamped a few of the images from the Big Bear stamp set onto some white cardstock and colored them in using Copic markers. I then used the coordinating die set to cut them out.

7.jpg

I used the Diagonal Stitches cover panel on a piece of white cardstock. I then glued that panel to a slightly larger piece of light gray cardstock and then that to an A2 panel of dark gray cardstock. I then adhered that panel onto a card base.

6.jpg

For the sentiment I embossed the stamp which says “i’m pulling for you” onto some black cardstock with a white embossing powder. I popped the sentiment strip and the two bear images up onto my card using foam tape.

8.jpg

I added some highlights to my images with a white gel pen. I went over the eyes on the bears with Glossy Accents to make them stand out. I went over the sentiment strip with Wink of Stella glitter. Finally I added a few sequins and the card was done.

2.jpg

I popped up the panel onto a card base with foam tape. I added a strip of black glitterstock along the edge of the card.

4.JPG

For the sentiment I took out the stamp of the month and stamped the “hoppy spring” sentiment in black ink on white cardstock. I popped up the sentiment strips onto the card with foam tape.

3.JPG

To finish up the card I went over the sentiment with Wink of Stella glitter and I added some sequins.
