A Sassy Birthday Card | Embossing with a Stencil

Hey guys! Today I am sharing a sassy birthday card using the Big Birthday Greetings stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. I love this card, I think it is hilarious!

First I stamped a whole bunch of candles from the set onto Bazzill Licorice Twist cardstock with Versamark ink. I embossed them with Alabaster white embossing powder and then cut them all out with my Scan N Cut 2. For some extra detail I shaded the flames on the candles with a white Prismacolor pencil.

For the background I taped the Abstract Triangles stencil from Simon Says Stamp over a piece of Bazzill Licorice Twist cardstock. I smooshed my Versamark ink pad over the stencil and then embossed the design with clear embossing powder. I cut the background down to 5 x 5 and blended some Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide ink along the edges.

I popped up the background onto a 5.5 x 5.5 card base with foam tape. I then glued down a layer of the candles along the bottom of the card with Gina K Designs Connect Glue. I popped up a second layer of candles over the first with foam tape. Using some scissors I cut the bottoms of the candles to be flush to the bottom of the stenciled background.

I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink onto Bazzil Licorice Twist cardstock and embossed it in white. I then fussy cut the sentiment out and glued it to some vellum. I cut that out so that the sentiment would have a vellum border and then popped it up on the card. To finish up I went over the sentiment with Wink of Stella glitter.

Simple and Clean Thank You | Brutus Monroe Monochrome Blog Hop

Hey everyone! Today I have a simple and clean card design to share with you for the Brutus Monroe Monochrome blog hop. I started this card with a piece of watercolor paper taped down to a board. I painted the paper with Blue Green Aqua Pigment paint.

Next I prepped the paper with a powder tool for embossing. I taped a stencil down over the paper and smooshed some embossing ink on it to transfer the design to the paper. The stencil I used is from Brutus Monroe’s Stencil of the Month club. I would highly recommend checking this club out if you love stencils, there are amazing things coming! I embossed the stenciled design with Icicle embossing powder. To finish up the background I went over the paper with another layer of Blue Green Aqua Pigment.

For the sentiment I stamped the Thank You stamp from the Super Sentimental stamp set onto some Alabaster white cardstock using my MISTI tool. I stamped it using Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink. I felt like this ink closely matched the color of the Aqua Pigment paint that I used.

I adhered the background that I created to a white card base. I then took the sentiment, cut it into a square and mounted it onto a piece of vellum. Finally I glued the sentiment square onto the card with foam tape.
