Creating a Glitter Texture Paste | Simon Says Stamp

Hello crafty friends! Today I revisited a card design from a few weeks ago to see if I could improve on a technique that didn’t quite go as planned. I am really happy with the way things turned out this time!

1.jpg

I taped down a piece of Canson watercolor paper to a board and then taped down the Triangle Blast stencil on top of it. I blended over the stencil with a few different colors of Distress Oxide ink. I used the colors Seedless Preserves, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet, Tumbled Glass, and Black Soot.

Next I took transparent gloss texture paste from Ranger and mixed it together with some Unicorn Dust glitter from Simon Says Stamp to create my own glitter texture paste. I spread that over the stencil. Once it was smoothed out I removed the stencil and set the background aside to dry.

For the sentiment I picked out some stamps from the Great Things stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. I stamped them with Versamark ink on Bazzill Licorice Twist cardstock and embossed them with Alabaster white embossing powder from Brutus Monroe. I cut the two smaller sentiments into strips and fussy cut the larger one. I arranged the sentiments on a strip of vellum and adhered them with Gina K Designs Connect Glue.

I wrapped the vellum strip around my background and adhered the flaps to the back. I then mounted that panel onto a piece of Fog cardstock and then popped up the whole thing onto an A2 size card base. For the finishing touches I first added some sequins and went over them with Glossy Accents. Finally I went over the different parts of the sentiment with Wink of Stella glitter.

Circular Stenciled Valentine | Brutus Monroe

Hey crafty people! Today I have a circular card design using some products from Brutus Monroe.

1.jpg

I started with a piece of Bristol Smooth paper taped down to a board. I then did some Distress Oxide ink blending on it with the colors Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick. Next I placed a stencil over it and taped it down. The stencil is called Elegant Egg and it is the stencil of the month from Brutus Monroe. I used the colors Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry to blend the stencil design onto my paper.

2.jpg

Once the blending was done I used a palette knife to go over the stencil with some Glitter Glaze. I used the color Fallen Snow, which is a really sparkly clear texture paste. Once that was nice and smoothed out I carefully lifted the stencil while the glaze was still wet and set the paper aside to dry.

4.JPG

Once the glaze finished drying I used a large circle die to cut it. I then took a slightly larger circle die and created a circular card base. I picked out a sentiment from the Love Bug stamp set and embossed it with white on black card stock. I then fussy cut the sentiment with scissors and popped it up on the card.

3.JPG

To finish up the card I added a few sequins and then I went over the sentiment with Wink of Stella.

Crazy Little Think Called Love | Simon's New Release

Today I made another card using the Ornate Love stamp set from Simon Says Stamp.

1.jpg

I stamped the letters from the stamp set onto some Bristol Smooth paper with embossing ink and embossed with Alabaster white embossing powder. I then blended over each of the letters with a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks. I used my Scan N Cut to cut each of the letters out.

3.jpg

I taped the Mod Stripe stencil over some Neenah Solar white card stock and went over it with Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste.

2.jpg

I stamped the “crazy little thing called” sentiment on some Bazzill Licorice Twist cardstock and embossed with Alabaster embossing powder. I fussy cut the sentiment out with scissors.

4.jpg

I popped the texture paste panel up with foam tape onto a card base. I then adhered each of the letters to spell the work LOVE with foam tape to the middle of the card. I popped up the sentiment right on top of the letters. Finally I added Wink of Stella glitter to the sentiment.

Masking and Arteza Coloring | Brutus Monroe Blog Hop

Hey friends! I have a really “cool" (sorry I couldn’t help myself) card to share with you all today!

10.jpg

For this card I used the Sprinkled with Love stamp set from Brutus Monroe. I stamped three of the ice creams from the set onto some masking paper and cut them out with my Scan N Cut. Next I stamped a group of ice cream cones together on some Alabaster white cardstock using my MISTI tool. I stamped them with Raven Detail ink. In order to get them all together, with some in front of others, I used the masks that I cut out.

7.jpg

I colored in the ice cream cones with Arteza watercolor markers. To make them a little bit more detailed I added some highlights with a white gel pen. I also went over some of the elements with Glossy Accents.

9.jpg

To dress up the background a little bit I pulled out the Tangled Waves stencil. I added a little bit of Unicorn Glitter Glaze over the stencil onto the edges of the paper. Once that was dry I popped up the panel onto a white card base with some foam tape.

8.jpg

For the sentiment I stamped the “stay cool” sentiment from the set onto a piece of Alabaster cardstock. Before stamping I prepped the paper with a powder tool and then stamped with embossing ink. I embossed the sentiment with Sterling embossing powder. After gluing the sentiment strip to a slightly larger piece of vellum I popped it up onto the card. To finish the card up I added some sequins and some Wink of Stella around the ice cream.

Simple and Clean Card Design | Brutus Monroe Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone! Today I have a quick and simple card design to share featuring some products from Brutus Monroe.

2.jpg

I created this card for the Brutus Monroe blog hop. For today’s hop we all were challenged to create something using a specific color palette. So the first thing I did was try to find cardstock in my stash that matched each color in the palette. Once I had a scrap of cardstock in each color I tried to thing of a Christmas word that I could cut out with the colors. There are five colors in the color scheme, so I picked the work Merry. I used the Square Alphabet Die set to cut one letter out of each color.

4.jpg

I cut very tiny pieces of foam tape in order to pop up each of my letters. I used a T-square ruler to help me place to letters onto a white card base. I like to place the first letter and the last letter first and then the middle letters. This just helps me get the spacing between the letters more even.

3.jpg

I popped my card base into my MISTI and picked out a sentiment to stamp under the word “merry.” I chose a stamp from the new Brutus Monroe stamp of the month stamp set which says “Merry & Bright.” I stamped that using Raven Detail ink.

1.jpg

Next I pulled out the stencil from November’s stencil of the month club. I taped it down over the very bottom of the card, right under the sentiment. I added some Unicorn glitter paste very carefully over the stencil. I smoothed it out as best as I could and then lifted the stencil up. The last thing that I did to finish the card was take my Wink of Stella glitter brush and go over the square letters to make them all sparkly.
