Snowman Slider Card | Brutus Monroe

Today I created a fun slider card using some stamps from Brutus Monroe.

1.jpg

I started by taping a 6x6 piece of Canson watercolor paper to a board. Taping it down helps to prevent warping while I paint. I used Aqua Pigment paints from Brutus Monroe to do the painting. I used the colors Tinsel Blue, Blue Green, Turquoise, Blue, Blue Violet, and Black. I didn’t wash my brush between colors, and because the Tinsel Blue is metallic all of the other paint got really sparkly. After finishing the painting I used a white watercolor paint to add stars. I got a paintbrush really saturated with paint and tapped it over background to create the stars. Once the paint was dry I removed the tape and trimmed the panel down.

Next I took the Snow Friends stamp set from Brutus Monroe and stamped a bunch of the snowflakes on the background with embossing ink. I embossed them with Alabaster, Sterling, and Rainbow Sparkle embossing powders.

I stamped one of the snowmen from the stamp set onto some Bristol Smooth paper with Raven Detail Ink. I colored the snowman in with Aqua Pigment paints and fussy cut it out. I cut a curve out of a piece of white cardstock to create a hill for my background. I painted the cardstock with Pearl Aqua Pigment paint so that it would be nice a glittery. I used a slider die from Lawn Fawn to cut a slider area along the edge of the hill. Check out the video to see how the slider was put together! Once the slider was made I glued my snowman to the penny so that it slides down the hill.

To finish up the card I took my background panel and adhered it to a 6x6 card base. I used another stamp set from Brutus Monroe to add a sentiment to the inside of the card which says “Let it Snow.”

Underwater Slider Card

For Today's card I used Distress Oxide inks to create the background, Lawn Fawn dies to make the slider areas, and the stamp set "Mermazing" from My Favorite Things for all of the stamping.

To start the background I taped a piece of Canson watercolor paper to a board. I blended the Distress Oxide ink colors Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet, and Faded Jeans to start my background. I then used a watercolor brush with clean water on it to make wavy lines all down the paper. I used a paper towel to soak up the water from those wavy lines and that also pulls up some of the ink. I think used the brush to flick some small water droplets all over the page and used a paper towel to soak those up as well.

Next I very lightly went over the paper with the same Distress Oxide inks just to make those wavy lines a little more subtle. To finish up the background I used my white gel pen to draw in lots of little bubbles all over the whole page. I then used the Lawn Fawn die set "Slide on Over" to add two slider areas to my background. I used foam tape that was double layered to tape the inked up background to a black piece of paper, being sure to leave enough room around the slider slots for a penny to slide around.

The little critters that I put on the two sliders are from the My Favorite Things stamp set "Mermazing." I colored them in with my Arteza Real Brush Pens and a very small amount of Prismacolor pencils. To create the sliders I put a penny through the slot and then put a small piece of doubled up foam tap on the penny. Then I stick the little critter on that foam tape and it then can slide all along the track. One thing I always like to do with slider cards is use my powder tool on the track which lets the slider slide even easier. I embossed the sentiment with some white embossing powder on black cardstock and used foam tape to adhere it to the upper corner. To finish up the card I went over the sentiment strip with my Wink of Stella glitter brush and I added some sequins.

Distress Oxide - Starry Sky Ocean Card + Giveaway

For this card I used Distress Oxide inks to create a starry night sky ocean scene.

165.JPG

To start this card I tapes a piece of Canson watercolor paper to a board. I blended Broken China Distress Oxide ink across the center of the page. Above and below that I used the colors Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans, and Black Soot. I used the colors in a way that made them reflect across the center.

166.JPG

Next I used a watercolor brush with just clean water on it to create the horizon line, the clouds, and some highlights on the water. I used some white watercolor paint, which I watered down quite a bit, to splatter stars across the sky and on the water. I also used a white gel pen to outline the underside of the clouds and to add highlights to the water. I would highly recommend checking out my YouTube video below to get a better idea of how I made this background.

I pulled out the stamp set "Party Like A Pirate" by my favorite things and stamp the little ship stamp from it in Versamark ink. I stamped this on Bristol Smooth paper and heat embossed it in a black embossing powder. I then colored it in with my Arteza Real Brush Pens using only my black marker and two grey markers. I really wanted the ship to look silhouetted against the sky which is why I kept the colors dark.

168.JPG

I used a slider die from the Lawn Fawn die set "Slide on Over." I wanted to create the look of the ship lifting out of the water and flying up into the sky. So I have the slider curving from the ocean and going up into the sky. I used a penny to make the ship slider. The sentiment that I chose says "give flight to your dream." I thought that it really worked well with this card. Sadly this stamp comes from an older Micheals stamp set and it is no longer available. I was so happy with how this card turned out!
