Autumn Wreath Thank You Card - October Mail Call Example

For today’s card I created and autumn wreath using the Beautiful Flowers 2 stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. I made this card to go along with the theme for my October 2018 Mail Call.

I started out by taking the leaf images from the stamp set and stamping them on Bristol Smooth paper with Versamark ink. I embossed them with a white embossing powder. Next I used Distress Oxide ink to blend color onto the leaves. I used two colors for each leaf. I picked out the colors Seedless Preserves, Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Bundled Sage, and Evergreen Bough. I used my Scan N Cut 2 to cut out all of the leaves.

Next I took a circle that I die cut of of Neenah Solar White card stock and stamped a sentiment on it with Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide ink. I popped the circle up onto a 5.5 by 5.5 Desert Storm card base.

I took all of the leaves that I created and glued them around the circle with Gina K connect glue to form a wreath. Next I stamped two more of the sentiments from the stamp set onto Gina K Plum Punch card stock and embossed them with white embossing powder. I popped up the first sentiment and glued down the second. The whole sentiment now reads “sending thanks for everything you do for me.”

To finish up the card I added some clear sequins.

Fall Themed Thank You Card - So Owlsome by Lawn Fawn

Today I used the So Owlsome stamp set by Lawn Fawn to make a fall themed thank you card.

2.jpg

I started out by taking a piece of Canon watercolor paper and going over it really well with my powder tool. I then took the Welcome Fall stencil by Echo Park and placed it over the paper. I smooshed my Versamark ink pad onto the stencil which left the leaf design on the paper. I embossed that design with a clear embossing powder.

Next I blended a bunch of different colors of Distress Oxide ink on the paper. The clear embossing on the leaf design resists the Distress Oxide ink leaving those areas white. I used the colors Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Candied Apple, Fired Brick, and Seedless Preserves. I cut the finished panel into two pieces with my Tonic Trimmer and set them aside.

I stamped the three owls for the Lawn Fawn stamp set onto a piece of Bristol Smooth paper. I colored them in using my Arteza Real Brush Pens. I also added some Prismacolor pencil for detail. Check out the video for the details on how the owls were colored. Once they were colored in I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I took the three owls and popped them up onto a card base using foam tape.

For the sentiment I stamped two of the stamps from the same set onto some gray card stock with Versamark ink. I embossed them with a white embossing powder and cut them down into strips. I then adhered them to some vellum to give them a border.

3.jpg

I took two pieces of Gina K Plum Punch card stock and adhered it to the back of both leaf pattern panels so that a small strip of it would show along the edge. I then popped these two panels up onto the card base, one above the owls one below, and cut off the excess. To finish up the card I popped up the two sentiments on the bottom panel.

Thanks a Bushel - Fall Themed Thank You Card

For today's card I made a fall themed thank you card using a couple of older stamp sets.

1.jpg

I started out by stamping some images from the stamp set "Thanks a Bushel" by Lawn Fawn and the "Witch Way is the Candy" stamp set by My Favorite Things. I used the apple images from the Lawn Fawn set and the pumpkins from the My Favorite Things one. I stamped those in Simon Says Stamp intense black ink onto some Bristol Smooth paper. I then colored in the images with my Arteza Real Brush Pens. I also added some PC913 Prismacolor pencil to the apples. Check out the video for details on the coloring and to find out the colors used.

Next I created a background to place my colored images on. I taped a piece of Canson watercolor paper to a board. I scribble some of my Arteza markers onto a palette and then picked up the color with a paintbrush to watercolor. I wanted to paint a dirt ground background for my images to sit on to kind of give you the feel that it is a farm scene. I used the colors Ginger and Chocolate to paint my background.

3.jpg

Next I used my ATG gun to glue a piece of red cardstock to a card base. Then I glued my watercolor background to a piece of dark gray cardstock that was just slightly larger so there is a small border around the edge. I then popped that piece up onto the card base with foam tape. I glued down my pumpkins to the background using Tombow glue and popped up the apple images with foam tape. I used a white gel pen to add highlights to all of my colored images. Next I used some Prismacolor pencils to add some shading and texture underneath my scene. I used the colors PC946, PC947, and PC943.

4.jpg

To create my sentiment I used the stamp from the Lawn Fawn set which says "Thanks a Bushel" and I stamped it with Versamark ink onto some dark gray cardstock. I embossed it in a white embossing powder and then cut the sentiment down to a strip and popped it up on the card with foam tape.
