Easy Watercolor Background Shaker Cards | Brutus Monroe

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a couple of really fun birthday shaker cards for the Brutus Monroe blog hop!

1.jpg

I started out by creating some colorful watercolor backgrounds using Aqua Pigment paints. I used a technique to make these backgrounds that is so super easy to do, I highly recommend checking out the video so that you can see how it is done!

2.jpg

Once the background were dry I used a large circle die to cut them into two circles. I then took the same die as well as a slightly smaller circle die to make two frames out of white cardstock. I also cut two circles out of some acetate. I glued the acetate circles to the frames to create my shaker windows.

3.JPG

I added some doubled up foam tape around the frame to create my shaker area. I then filled the shaker with Pastel Paradise sequins from Lucy’s Cards as well as clear Micro Pearls from Brutus Monroe. I closed the shakers up with the watercolor backgrounds.

4.JPG

I created two 5 x 5 card bases and glued some Simon Says Stamp Fog cardstock to the front. I then glued my shaker circles to the middle of both of the cards.

5.jpg

For the sentiments I used a stamp from the Super Sentimental stamp set from Brutus Monroe and embossed them with Alabaster embossing powder on some black cardstock. I popped the sentiments up onto the centers of both cards and went over them with Wink of Stella glitter.

Brutus Monroe Subscription items blog hop

Hello everyone! I am sharing a card today for the Brutus Monroe blog hop which is featuring their subscription products for the month!

1.jpg

I first took a panel of Bristol Smooth paper and blended across is with some rainbow colors of Distress Oxide ink. I then took the stencil of the month and placed it on top and pressed embossing ink through it onto the blended panel. I embossed the stencil design with the embossing powder of the month which is the color pearl.

2.jpg

I popped up the panel onto a card base with foam tape. I added a strip of black glitterstock along the edge of the card.

4.JPG

For the sentiment I took out the stamp of the month and stamped the “hoppy spring” sentiment in black ink on white cardstock. I popped up the sentiment strips onto the card with foam tape.

3.JPG

To finish up the card I went over the sentiment with Wink of Stella glitter and I added some sequins.

Nursery Wall Art | Brutus Monroe Dies Blog Hop

Hey everyone! For today’s Brutus Monroe blog hop I am sharing something a little different! Instead of a card, I used a Brutus Monroe die set to create some wall art for my little girl River’s bedroom.

1.jpg

I first took a piece of Alabaster white cardstock and cut it down to 8 x 10 to fit in my frame. I then took the Square Alphabet die set from Brutus Monroe and ran the entire set through my Big Shot with a piece of Sidewalk gray cardstock. To make it easier I actually left the dies attached to the paper backing they come on when I ran them through the Big Shot.

2.jpg

Next I found a heart die that was a similar size to the letters in the Brutus Monroe set. I cut that heart as well as the letters “i” and “u’ out of some Cotton Candy pink cardstock.

3.jpg

I then popped up all of the letters in alphabetical order on the 8 x 10 white cardstock with foam tape. I used a ruler to help line everything up straight. I replaced the letter “o” with the pink heart so that the pink die cuts read “i heart u.”

4.jpg

To finish up the piece I went over the pink die cuts with my Wink of Stella glitter brush. Then all I had to do was put it in the frame and put it up on the wall!

Ink Blending with Surface Inks | Brutus Monroe Blog Hop

Hello everyone! It’s time for another Brutus Monroe blog hop and today we are showing off all the cool things you can create with Surface Inks. My card features some ink blending using the Stencil of the Month.

5.jpg

I place the stencil over a white piece of card stock and held it down with some tape. I then blended over the stencil with some Surface Inks in the colors Oz and Rouge. Mixing these colors together in some areas gives you a really pretty dark purple color.

7.jpg

Next I stamped a sentiment next to the stencil design using Raven ink. The sentiment I chose comes from the Super Sentimental stamp set.

6.jpg

I adhered the panel to an A2 size white card base using foam tape.

8.jpg

To finished up the card I added some clear sequins and I went over the stenciled design with Wink of Stella.

Circular Stenciled Valentine | Brutus Monroe

Hey crafty people! Today I have a circular card design using some products from Brutus Monroe.

1.jpg

I started with a piece of Bristol Smooth paper taped down to a board. I then did some Distress Oxide ink blending on it with the colors Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick. Next I placed a stencil over it and taped it down. The stencil is called Elegant Egg and it is the stencil of the month from Brutus Monroe. I used the colors Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry to blend the stencil design onto my paper.

2.jpg

Once the blending was done I used a palette knife to go over the stencil with some Glitter Glaze. I used the color Fallen Snow, which is a really sparkly clear texture paste. Once that was nice and smoothed out I carefully lifted the stencil while the glaze was still wet and set the paper aside to dry.

4.JPG

Once the glaze finished drying I used a large circle die to cut it. I then took a slightly larger circle die and created a circular card base. I picked out a sentiment from the Love Bug stamp set and embossed it with white on black card stock. I then fussy cut the sentiment with scissors and popped it up on the card.

3.JPG

To finish up the card I added a few sequins and then I went over the sentiment with Wink of Stella.
