Hello my friends! Today’s cards are part of a fun video hop to celebrate a couple of fellow YouTubers hitting 3k subscribers on their channels! We are celebrating with some summer themed card and also a giveaway with lots of sponsors. Check out the video to find out more!

When I thought of summer I thought of watermelon. So I came up with this idea on how to create some watermelons using basic supplies. I pulled out a bunch of different colors of Simon Says Stamp cardstock and cut them with the nested oval dies from Hero Arts. The colors that I used were Green Leaf, Green Apple, White, Cotton Candy, and Lipstick Red.

After cutting the ovals, I cut each of them a second time so that I could in-lay each piece to make a watermelon. I used the larges oval die to cut a piece of scrap paper and then I used that as a base for the pieces. I glued them down with Gina K Designs Connect Glue. I cut the watermelon into two pieces so that I could make two cards. .

I picked out two pieces of cardstock for my backgrounds. For one I used Cotton Candy cardstock and for the other I used Sea Glass. I stamped a sentiment from the One Cool Pineapple stamp set on both of them with Versafine Onyx Black ink I popped up that background on A2 card bases with foam tape and I also popped up the watermelons on the cards.

I added black sequins to the melons to look like seeds. I took out some doodlebug tiny heart stickers and added some of them around each of the sentiments. To finish up the cards I added dashed lines around the border of the backgrounds with a white gel pen.
