Shaker Birthday Card - Simon's July Card Kit
/For today's card I used the Simon Say's Stamp July 2018 card kit to create this really fun birthday shaker card.
I don't often use patterned paper in my card designs but for this card I decided to use one of the sheets in the kit. When I saw this blue water-like pattern I had this idea to try and add silver foil to it. I thought the silver would look really good with the blues. In order to add the foil I used a deco foil adhesive pen and drew lines on the paper where I wanted foil to go. I let the glue dry for about 30 seconds and then put the foil on the paper. I made sure to press down really well on the foil to transfer it to the paper. When I pulled the foil up it stuck to the paper where I had drawn the lines.
To create the shaker window I used my Hero Arts nesting circle dies and cut out a ring of white card stock. I also cut a circle of acetate. I glued the acetate to the ring using my ATG gun. I picked out a mis of blue and clear sequins to go inside my shaker. I made sure to pick enough to fill the shaker up quite full. For the sentiment I chose a stamp from the set that came in the card kit. It says "fishing you a happy birthday." I heat embossed it in white on the acetate of my shaker window. I was very careful not to warp the acetate by letting my heat tool heat up for a while before using it, and also only putting it directly to the acetate for short amounts of time. I then used a double layer of foam tape to adhere my shaker window to the piece of patterned and foiled paper.
Next I took the image of the little fish from the stamp set and stamped it three times on some Bristol Smooth paper. I colored each of the little fishies in with my Arteza Real Brush Pens. I can't say what colors I used because I own one of the older sets of 48 Arteza markers which are not labeled with the colors names. In the future I am happy to say that I will be able to give color names because I just ordered a new set of 96 Arteza Real Brush Pens! So many colors, I am so excited!!
For the finishing touches on this card I used my Wink of Stella glitter brush on the three fish and I added some clear sequins with my Tombow glue. I added small dots of glossy accents to the center of each sequin and all around the ring of the shaker. I also used a white gel pen to add highlights to each of the fish.Next I took the image of the little fish from the stamp set and stamped it three times on some Bristol Smooth paper.
