Copic Watermelon Card - Simon's July Card Kit

I created today's card using the SSS July 2018 card kit and my brand new Copic markers!

This is my very first card using Copic markers! I have been very slowly building up my collection of Copics over the last month or two. I have been getting either a small pack or a single marker every time I go to Micheal's and using a coupon in it. Copics are pretty expensive and since I can't afford to buy one of the large packs of them I figured this was the best way for me to build a collection.

The first thing that I did was I took the image of the watermelon from the stamp set in the kit and I stamped it all over a piece of white card stock using Simon Says Stamp intense black ink. I then colored in just the one watermelon in the bottom right corner. I start with my lightest color, then used my medium tone, and then my darkest color. Then I work backwards and go in with the medium tone to blend and then finish the coloring with the lightest color.

I used two different grey markers to add a drop shadow to all of the watermelons. Next I took the sentiment from the stamp set which says "You're one in a melon" and I stamped it with the same intense black ink. I used my Hero Arts infinity nesting circle dies to cut that sentiment out and I also cut a circle out of the Green Leaf card stock from the kit. I glued a black piece of card stock to a card base to create a black base. Then I adhered the melon panel that I created to that. I popped up the sentiment circle to the left side of the card so that the colorful melon isn't covered up.

To finished up this card I used my Wink of Stella glitter brush on the watermelon, the sentiment, and the green border around the sentiment. I used my white gel pen to add dashed lines on the black border and also a highlight on the colored in watermelon. Finally I added a mix of sequins and half pearls across the card using my tombow glue.
