Creating a Christmas Background - Colored Pencils on Dark Cardstock

Today I created a card using a bunch of Mama Elephant stamps and my Prismacolor pencils.

I stamped a ton of images from many different Mama Elephant stamp sets onto a piece of Simon Says Stamp Slate cardstock. I stamped them with Versamark ink and embossed with a white embossing powder.

I colored in the images with Prismacolor pencils. Check out the video for details on the coloring. Next I used a white gel pen to add snow to the background. I just drew a bunch of different size circles to the empty space in between the images. To create a frosty look around the edges I took Hero Arts Unicorn White ink and a blending tool and gently added some ink along the edges.

For the sentiment I stamped another Mama Elephant stamp onto some Gina K Cherry Red cardstock. I embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed down that cardstock and mounted it onto a piece of vellum. I mounted the sentiment piece onto the background with foam tape and then popped up the whole thing onto a SSS Slate cardstock card base.

To finish up the card I went over the vellum with my Wink of Stella glitter brush. I also added some dashed lines around the border of the Cherry Red cardstock with a white gel pen.
