Distress Oxide Squares and Mama Elephant Snowmen

Today I created a simple card design using some Mama Elephant stamps and Distress Oxide ink.

I started out by blending my Distress Oxide ink on some Canson watercolor paper. I blended together the colors Cracked Pistachio with Peacock Feathers and Candied Apple with Abandoned Coral. I sprinkled some water onto the paper to reactivate the ink and then soaked it up with a paper towel. This creates that nice water drop effect on the ink. I cut four squares out of the blended panel, two green and two red.

Next I used my MISTI tool to stamp four snowmen from the Mama Elephant stamp set “Little Snowman Agenda.” I stamped them on Neenah Solar white with Gina K Amalgam ink. I colored in the snowmen using Copic markers. Check out the video to see the coloring process! I cut out the snowmen using my Scan N Cut 2.

I stamped a sentiment from Mama Elephant’s “Scripty Xmas” stamp set with Veramark ink onto a piece of Canson watercolor paper. The reason I chose the Canson paper is because my card base will be made out of Canson and I wanted it to match. I embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder. I adhered the sentiment strip onto a piece of Gina K slate card stock so that it would have a border around the edge.

To put the card together I popped up the four Distress Oxide ink squares onto a piece of Canson watercolor paper to create a larger square. I popped up the sentiment strip in the middle of the four squares. Next I used foam tape to pop up the four snowmen in the middle of each of the squares. I then took the whole piece and glued it to a piece of vellum so that it would have a border around it. To finish the card I popped up that whole piece onto a 6 x 6 card base made out of Canson watercolor paper.
