Making lots of Christmas Cards - Simon's Fun and Festive Release

Today I made a bunch of cards using the Critter Sweaters stamp set from Simon Says Stamp’s Fun and Festive release.

I started out by taking all of the small border stamps that come in the set and lining them up in my MISTI. I stamped them with Versamark ink onto a a piece of Neenah Solar white, a piece of Gina K In the Navy card stock, and a piece of Gina K Cherry Red card stock. For the red panel I embossed with a white embossing powder. For the navy panel I used a silver embossing powder. For the white card stock panel I used a gold embossing powder.

Next I stamped the border stamps onto a piece of Gina K Turquoise Sea card stock with Faded Jeans Distress Oxide ink. I embossed that with a clear embossing powder. For my last background I used a bunch of different colors of Distress Oxide ink. I used post-its to mask of borders so that I could ink one at a time. I used the colors Candied Apple, Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, and Iced Spruce. I embossed that in a clear embossing powder as well.

Once I had all of the background done I trimmer them with my Tonic trimmer. I then used a circle die to cut circle out of each of them. Next I adhered a piece of acetate to the back of three of the panels, covering the circle cut out. For the other two I used vellum. I stamped the “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the stamp set onto to circle of acetate or vellum for each panel. I stamped it with Versamark ink and then embossed with either silver or gold embossing powder.

I used doubled up foam tape to create a shaker area around the back of the windows. I added different colors of sequins and then closed up the shakers with card stock. I then took my shaker panels and glued them to card bases. For the card bases I used 4 Desert Storm card bases and one with In the Navy and Cherry Red card stock.

For some final touched I added some details with my white gel pen to two of the cards.
